WELCOME

Mary Poppins Nursery Owner
Principals Welcome

Being a mother I know how the anxieties of choosing the right childcare for your child.

For this very reason we, my husband and I established Mary Poppins back in 1990. We were the first privately run nursery to open in our area. Our aim was to create a warm friendly safe & stimulating environment where children strive. Mary Poppins is a home from home environment, everyone who visits always mentions the fabulous atmosphere.

We have continually developed Mary Poppins since we opened and will continue to do so in order to maintain the very highest standards expected.

Most of our staff have been with us for over 20 years, one member Steph attended Mary Poppins as a baby, she now has a baby of her own who attends the nursery. All our staff are qualified Nursery Nurses and are First Aiders.

We have seen hundreds of children pass through our nursery to become successful & confident people.

Sincerely,

June Rowley

OUR AIMS

Managers Welcome

My name is Denise Harris, I have worked at Mary Poppins Nursery since February 1995. During my time at the nursery I have worked in every room with all ages of children. I began as a Nursery Nurse progressing over time to Early years coordinator, senior Nursery Nurse, Deputy Officer in charge and finally to Nursery manager in 2007.

I hold the NNEB qualification, BA (HONS) and the Early Years Professional status Qualification.

As the years have passed I have gained a real understanding of what a difference excellent child care can make. This is not only to each child who often join us as a  baby and flourishes into a confident, active learning, school ready child with skills for life achieved at a pace which is individual to them , not only to each parent who is able to leave their child with the confidence they are being cared for and supported as they would wish, enabling them to return to work with piece of mind but also to the staff team who thoroughly enjoy being with the children in their care and develop into experienced and knowledgeable practitioners.

Sincerely,

Denise Harris BA (HONS)

How do we do this?

We invite our parents to complete anonymous questionnaires on a regular basis to check on our performance, we ask if their child is happy and settled and invite recommendations on how we can improve our service.

We operate within The Early Years Foundation Stage Principals.

We are inspected by Ofsted to ensure we are offering the highest possible provision and meeting the National Day Care Standards.

We are in regular contact with our local Derby City Early Years Childcare Team advisers.

Mary Poppins has been awarded the highly acclaimed ‘Steps to Quality Award’  nationally recognised,  this was an intense course developed in conjunction with the Derby City Early Years Childcare Team, the purpose of which is to develop good practice and improve the quality of provision and covers.
